The image above is from my host school. I found the lesson plans for this activity on the website TeachersPayTeachers.com. I shared it with my 5th grade practicum teachers from previous semesters, as well as the 5th grade teachers in my student teaching host school. Both of the 5th grade teachers in my host school did this free lesson with their students! The results are amazing! I did it with my host class but it was more of an art activity than it was a geometry lesson because our curriculum was on more advanced math. The 5th grade teachers in my host school used it in their actual geometry lessons on angles. My kids loved this activity and I knew I had to share it with my other mentor teachers. I'm including the free geometry star lesson (below left) simply because it is so cool. The artifact of my email to my mentors with a reply is below (right).

During my semester of student teaching the music teacher planned and organized a school talent show. There was school-wide enthusiasm for participation and many more performers than time-slots in the show! The music teacher scheduled two days of auditions and needed a panel of judges. I volunteered to be on the panel on both days. The auditions were held after school. I was surprised at the variety of acts and the talents of all the students in the school! Below is a file of the email from the music teacher confirming the judge sign-ups.

Parents & FamiliesI had the opportunity to meet most of the parents at parent teacher conferences during student teaching. Once I began teaching in my host classroom full-time, I wanted to be sure my students' families knew more about me, how to contact me, and what their son or daughter was discovering at school. I created a newsletter and sent it home with each student. I also made phone calls to parents, as needed, and enjoyed talking with them about their child's progress whenever they were at the school in person.
